Discover the new and improved features of Niko Home Control 2.22

Always aiming for better, Niko is proud to announce the latest update to its Niko Home app and Niko Home control software.

With the launch of the Niko Home app version 2.22 and the Niko Home Control programming software version 2.22, we can proudly present to you the following upgrades (*).

  • You can now add a second function to your pushbutton. Currently, a standard short press triggers an action in your home, for example, turning on a light. From now on, you can add a long press to trigger a second, entirely different action.

So, the button that turns on the light can now be used to trigger a new action, for example pushing 2 to 5 seconds to trigger the all-off function when you leave your house or go to bed.

    Advantages?

    • It prevents people from triggering an action by accident, for example when you have visitors who accidentally push a button that turns off all the lights in your home.
    • In the case of a panic button triggering a loud action, for example to chase away intruders, you can make sure a deliberate, long push is required.
    • There’s no impact on existing button functions. You just receive an extra double button mode in your programming software

    How does this work?

The programming of this function is done in the Niko Home Control programming software, under the button parameters. There, now set the button functions to “normal”, “shifted” or “double” and separately set the operating mode to “short press”, “press and hold” or “push-button mode”.

  •  Up until now, you could only onboard Digital blacks via the Niko Home Control app. From now on, you can also program the Digital black’s selected actions, order them and select the desired visualisation. On top of that you can program the thermostat settings (setpoints, programs, calibration) and address the available Digital blacks in the programming software.

Make sure to add them (after adding the Digital black to the Wi-Fi network via its screen user interface) in the same way as other Niko Home Control devices, in the addressing tab.

    Advantages:

    • It’s easier for the installer, since it doesn’t exclusively require the Niko Home app anymore during the installation process to make a Digital black functional.
    • It makes sure no end-users are excluded from using Digital blacks.
    • Of course, the original way of working using the Niko Home Control app for onboarding is still active as well. The end-user can still modify his (thermostat) Digital black settings in this way.
  • In addition to the previous feature, you can now also configure the thermostats settings (e.g. setpoints, programs) via the programming software for the pushbuttons with Comfort sensors as well as for the Display thermostat and HVAC thermostat.

This is easier for the installer, since it doesn’t exclusively require the Niko Home app or the local display user interface anymore for the thermostat configuration to make it functional according to the customers wishes.

  • When two cars are actively charging, and at a certain moment one car has a full battery, the reserved charging power will become available for the remaining car charging.

Instead of charging two cars, you can now charge four cars at the same time.

  • Those of you who have an integration with Daikin, might have noticed a red clinging to the Daikin icon. That’s because Daikin has released a new version of the Daikin API, including security improvements.

With this API upgrade, you, as an end-user, will need to reauthenticate your connection with the Daikin system to make use of the Daikin functionality within Niko Home Control.  Don’t worry, it may sound daunting, but we’ve got you covered. You can find our step-by-step guide here.

  • If you have clients with a multizone heating system, this release is highly relevant to you. We have simplified the installation and configuration of HVAC multizone systems.

The system will detect status changes of the HVAC zones valves and turn it into an action via a preset conditional formula that installers can enter in the software.

You won’t need to work on additional wiring and input contacts.

  • You can now remove all notifications or mark all notifications as read at once.

  • As you already know, you can now define dynamic tariffs provided you have adapted your contract with your energy provider. By guiding you to use electricity at the most economical times of the day, Niko Home Control delivers a 25% to 30% reduction in your bill. This is particularly beneficial when it comes to automatic EV charging.

It's also a useful feature if you want to track your energy consumption in euros (as opposed to kW-hours). To enable you to follow up closely on the dynamic tariff forecast, we have improved the readability of the graphs in the app.

(*) For information: Please note that while certain features included in this upgrade are currently available free of charge, this may change in the future. Niko will inform you in a timely manner if it does. At that time, you will have the option to: (a) switch to a paid version, (b) continue using the feature(s) with reduced functionality, or (c) to stop using it. Niko cannot guarantee that a free version will always be available.
