Step 1
Important beforehand
What you need to know in order to install Niko Home Control?
- You understand the operation and
opportunities of the Niko Home Control installation for traditional
wiring (the eco system) and know the opportunities of each connected product.
- You understand that the products for Niko Home Control for traditional wiring
must be installed in accordance with the relevant national
legislation.
- You have technical knowledge of electrical installations. For example,
you understand the RGIE/AREI (regulation), you know how an intermediate switching works, you can
read simple electrical charts and you can use a multimeter.
What do you need when installing Niko Home Control?
- You need a modern electrical installation with three or five wires
(phase, neutral conductor, earthing and possibly switching wires) with a cross-section of 1.5 or 2.5
mm2. This is usually the case in houses built as from 1985. In order to install a
connected switch there needs to be a neutral conductor in the
flush-mounting box. This is not necessary for a connected
dimmer.
- You have an internet network in your home. You can modify your switching without internet,
however, you cannot register the wireless smart hub and you cannot program the installation
in the Niko Home app.
- You have extra wiring (three or more colours), connection terminals, a wire stripper and a screwdriver at the ready.
- You have the Niko Home Control products for traditional wiring
at the ready. For the minimum installation you need the following products: a wireless smart hub, a wireless
motion detector, a connected device with switching contact (a connected
switch, a connected dimmer or a connected switching socket outlet), a
central plate and a finishing set (bought separately).
