Lighting control is all about energy efficiency and user comfort. Niko's full selection of DALI-2 compatible detectors has built-in flexibility. The levels of functionality for lighting control are more advanced than you could ever dream of in a stand-alone solution. This gives you easy access to everything from basic lighting control to more advanced features.
See our recommended solutions here:
- Unrivalled daylight control with optimal user comfort
- Create up to 4 daylight zones with individual controls – make use of the incoming daylight
- Simple lighting control of neighbouring areas – avoid darkness in open office environments with neighbour control
- Folding door solution – synchronise light in rooms separated by a folding door
- Multi-zone across different daylight zones – create the perfect reading light for a smart board
- Night function optimises light in the corridors – get the correct light level, both day and night
Our detector program is being constantly expanded and will soon be accessible at a wholesaler near you.
Unrivalled daylight control with optimal user comfort
Efficiently manage daylight control – even when the light is adjusted manually
The light level in a daylight-controlled DALI installation will adjust itself automatically according to the incoming daylight. The automatic daylight control can be overridden manually via a push button or potentiometer, if needed.
If it is overridden, the automatic light control will be deactivated and the light level will follow the manual setting. Daylight control will return either by going onto "Automatic" or once the light has been turned off.
Retain energy-efficient daylight control
It is possible, however, to continue using daylight control even when the light is adjusted manually. By activating the function "daylight control with manual dimming" you can retain the energy-efficient daylight control at a temporary set-point.
Create up to 4 daylight zones with individual controls – make use of the incoming daylight
Daylight changes over the course of the day. That is why you can set up to 4 daylight zones, and the DALI-2 detector will continuously calculate a suitable light level for each zone in order to ensure that the required lux level is achieved everywhere in the room
Simple lighting control of neighbouring areas
Avoid darkness in open office environments with neighbour control
In open office environments or offices with glass walls, the users can have the uncomfortable experience of sitting alone, and being surrounded by darkness as the lights in neighbouring areas switch off when there is no longer anyone present.
An easy way to prevent this is to set up a wireless Bluetooth connection between the Niko DALI-P48 master detectors, which are able to transfer DALI commands between each other.
This allows the light to be dimmed to up to 75% in the neighbouring area when there is no one present. This means that you never have to sit in total darkness even when the neighbouring office spaces are empty.
Folding door solution
Synchronise the light in rooms separated by a folding door
It has never been easier to install solutions where a folding door can divide a room in two. No additional installation required. The detectors on both sides of the folding door communicate wirelessly via Bluetooth.
When the folding door is closed, the lighting controls function independently of each other. If the folding door is open, the light synchronises in both rooms. A contact in the folding door tells the light whether the door is open or closed.
Multi-zone – across daylight zones
Create the perfect reading light for a smart board
It is possible to create a multi-zone, which is an additional zone consisting of luminaires that are already included in one or more daylight zones. You can therefore include a number of luminaires across daylight zones in a multi-zone area, which for example can be used as whiteboard lighting or be turned off when the smart board is being used. This is done independently of the daylight control in the room.
When presenting on a smart board, the light can either by turned off or dimmed separately, while the daylight control will still continue in the rest of the room. After the presentation, daylight control is activated again for all zones.
Night function optimises the light in corridors
Get the correct light level both day and night
In corridors of hotels, hospitals, residential care homes etc. it can be unpleasant to have a very bright light when you are using the corridor at night. A light level of 50% can be adequate to keep the corridor lit without bothering other people with full brightness.
Use the night function to optimise the light in the corridor, for example. The night function can be activated manually with a push button or automatically, for example with a timer or twilight switch. When the night function is not activated, the light will be daylight controlled.
