Wireless Controls - Can 3rd party Zigbee® devices be directly controlled by Niko Zigbee® battery powered switches?

Every 3rd party device that is Zigbee® 3.0 certified and Touchlink enabled can be controlled by the Niko battery powered Zigbee® switches (552-720XX), without a gateway, hub, or wireless bridge.

Double-check if the Zigbee® device or its packaging is carrying a Zigbee® 3.0 logo and is Touchlink enabled.

Not every 3rd party Zigbee® 3.0 device supports this function, and it is not always communicated.

As a rule of thumb, when a description of a smart bulb indicates that it can be paired with a remote Zigbee® control (this is without a gateway) then chances are high that it supports Touchlink.
When in doubt, contact the lamp manufacturer.             

Niko battery powered Zigbee® switches can switch on, off or dim up, dim down 3rd party Zigbee® 3.0 lamps that are paired with it.  

A non-exhaustive list of Zigbee® 3.0 lamps that support Touchlink is described below. Mind that the list is not complete and serves for information purposes only.
Niko is not responsible if 3rd party vendors change functionalities.        

  • Ikea smart LED light bulbs (Trådfri).
  • Ikea smart lamps (Stoftmoln).
  • Ikea smart integrated lighting (Mittled, Myrvarv, Mittled, Skydrag, Norrfly, Irsta, Översidan).
  • Innr smart Zigbee® bulbs (Innr smart bulb white, Innr smart candle white, Innr smart filament bulb, Innr smart spot comfort, Innr smart puck lights).
  • Ecodim Zigbee® LED filament lamps (A60, ST64, G125).
  • Gledopto Zigbee® 3.0 lamps (Gledopto Pro series) .
  • Linkind Dimmable A19 Bulb.

Niko battery powered Zigbee® switches support On, Off, Dim Up and Dim Down events. Smart colour lamps will be controlled ON/OFF/DIM in the colour it was previously active in. Changing colours or colour temperature is not yet possible.            

If you plan to pair the Niko battery powered Zigbee® switches with a Zigbee® dimmer then verify if it is Zigbee 3.0 certified and supports Touchlink.            

The battery powered Zigbee® switch then acts as a wireless one-button control (ON/OFF/DIM) of that Zigbee® dimmer after it is paired correctly and when the switch is within wireless range (maximum 10 m).
