Niko Home Control API - Why is the Hobby API token only valid for one year?

The Hobby API is a secure API and works with an authentication token that is valid for one year. Every year, you must create a new token on the web portal for software versions older than 2.17. For Niko Home Control software versions, starting from 2.17, you can create the new token via the Niko Home Control programming software.

This is an extra security measure that ensures that your connection does not remain active indefinitely. You can create a new token within one month prior to the expiry date of your current Hobby API token.
