Linde Haven, located in the attractive Sønderborg region of Denmark, is a block with detached houses, terraced houses and apartment blocks. “Linde Haven has been designed for everyone – from families with children to older residents – but what’s most important is that the quality is the absolute best it can be,” says Mikael Jensen of housing association B42.
Quality, style and sustainability
B42 paid particular attention to sustainability throughout the entire Linde Haven project. As a result, there are beautiful wooden floors made with wood from sustainable forests, underfloor heating, air conditioning and stylish kitchens and bathrooms. But the biggest innovation is the Digital black, a little black touchscreen on the wall in the hallway connected to Niko’s smart home solution, Niko Home Control.
Focus on sustainability
“We wanted to take the lead and try out new things, and after our first meeting with Niko I thought: Yes! That’s it, that’s what I’m looking for,” explains Mikael Jensen. Niko Home Control enables tenants to control their lighting, heating, air conditioning and energy use, either via the Digital black or via the Niko Home app for smartphones.
The system has functions such as all-off, so residents can avoid leaving equipment on standby and adjust their underfloor heating to be a degree or two cooler at night or switching it off entirely when they’re away. “The system offers good overall savings and is so easy to use,” says Mikael Jensen.
Collaboration offers new opportunities
Niko has been working with Danfoss, who provided solutions such as underfloor heating for all residences. Thanks to the connection between the two systems, tenants can control their Danfoss heating via Niko Home Control.
“Danfoss and Niko come from two different worlds – heating and smart homes – and yet we are able to offer the best of both worlds in one single product. It makes sense to make things as simple as possible for tenants, and that’s exactly what we’re doing with Niko,” explains Tommy Henriksen, Project Sales Manager at Danfoss.
“For us, it’s about making things as easy as possible for end users. When you choose Niko Home Control, you can easily integrate heating solutions from Danfoss and numerous other HVAC brands. Just like with our other partners, such as Sonos and Velux, you can control all your intelligent systems from one single platform,” explains Thomas Phillipsen, Head of Sales for Niko Denmark.
So many possibilities
The first residents have already moved in to Linde Haven and so far Mikael Jensen has already received many positive reactions to the Digital black in the hall. Once all the tenants have moved in after spring,” says Mikael Jensen with a smile, “we'll show everyone all the possibilities Niko Home Control has to offer – because there are quite a few of them.”
All 52 properties in Linde Haven have been fitted with:
• Niko Digital black to control lighting, air conditioning, music and heating
• Niko Intense switches in all rooms, including USB chargers and connected sockets
• Niko Hydro outdoor switches and sockets on patios and terraces
