Hidden deep away in Knokke-Heist is Kim and Jasper's bungalow – a home that immediately makes you forget you're on the Belgian coast. Where sleek lines and white façades are often the norm, this home is surprising with its organic design, natural shapes and distinctive Niko Intense switches.
Once a couples' bungalow from the Sixties, now a soft cocoon with no corners. The flowing curves, which appear in every room, create a unique living area that feels warm and inviting. What properly finishes off this home? Our Niko Intense dark brown coated switches, which not only enhance the soft colour palette and the organic shapes, but also provide a subtle contrast in the serene interior.
Inspired by their travels, in particular the round shapes of African huts, and Jasper's experience in paintwork, the couple designed a home entirely free of corners.
“We've been living here for nearly two years now, and every day is a joy. It's something you never get used to, which is just amazing. That's pure magic!"
Alongside the curves, the bungalow's colour palette also contributes to the overall softness. The light colour, which runs seamlessly through from the floor to the walls and ceilings, creates a monochrome whole with texture holding the upper tone. The ceiling is finished in whitewash, for example, with the walls in limewashed stucco and the floor with Mortex.
Whereas in the kitchen diner and bathroom, a striking terracotta adds some warmth and contrast, giving these rooms some extra character.
Harmony and contrast
Kim and Jasper consciously chose Niko Intense dark brown coated switches, which manage to make a perfect play of contrast and harmony.
"The Niko Intense dark brown coated switches offer a nice balance between blending into the whole and being subtly noticeable,” Jasper explains.
“Thanks to their gently curved front, they are a harmonious fit for our interior, while their deep brown colour provides a subtle yet powerful contrast.”

“Moreover, we were unquestionably going to choose Niko switches. Where other brands are often too pronounced, Niko makes the difference with its refined simplicity and authenticity.”
“Which is a perfect fit for us too – we're quite level-headed and like to remain ourselves as far as we can. That's why we've tried to project that feeling in our home and the materials we've used,” says Jasper.
The couple worked with Niko switching material in their previous home renovation too. "There, we chose Niko Intense white and Niko Pure bamboo."
“As it happens, I found that bamboo finishing so beautiful that I've now had another one fitted in the bathroom. Just because I didn't want to say goodbye to it,” Jasper laughs.
